Creative Pop Art by Rui Pinho

There comes a time, when browsing trough webpages, you come across something that makes you stop. Usually that kind of content is the one I post here.

Today’s post is the same. But this work made me not only stop and look but also imagine other possibilities and combinations. It’s not the most refine work or one with great technicality but makes you question and imagine other stuff. I like those kind of projects.

The portuguese artist Rui Pinho is inspired by pop culture when composing his work. These new series originated in a collage mixing La Gioconda from Leonardo Da Vinci. He uses pop culture icons such as Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe or even Steve Jobs and changes only the eyes to cartoons or other animated characters. The result is a mixing of familiarity with disconcert.

“Why this character?!”, “Did he meant something by placing only the eyes!?”, “Who is that in the picture?”.
